Bubbles & Light

After yesterday’s somewhat bitter divergence (see what a mere reading of one news-story can do for me?), here is the last holiday photo for you to enjoy.  Tomorrow, long before the break of dawn…middle of the night actually, I will be on the highway driving off to a family obligation to open the New Year.  Won’t be popping champagne bubbles…so I give you these shiny ones of light and glass!  Happy New Year!

Christmas Eve

Of old, before becoming ‘damned’ and all….this night would be spent with my children painting cookies, waiting for Midnight Mass. To all of you who still spend this night in such pursuits, the Merriest of Christmastimes to you—full of the peace and love that so eludes our sad world.

Smokin’!

….was the meal, the Scotch, the Absolute New Orleans vodka, the companionship, the gifts and the fire!  And only this little ’smoker’ for incense is allowed to smoke in the house!

Yule Eve

Tonight we do our simple rites to welcome the returning and lengthening daylight. We share a celebratory meal with family and dear friends. Blessings to you all….whether it is Yule, or Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanza, Soyal or Festivus……..by whatever name, may it be a season of light and sweetness.

And please consider passing some of that sweetness on to the families of military members  by contributing to the Fisher House (logo at right).  Of all the charities who claim to be supporting the troops, my confidence is in FisherHouse—thus I am a volunteer fundraiser, I intend to do my absolute best to match all donations!  Ninety cents of every dollar actually works to help the troops—flying their families to them in hospitals, helping them cope with sudden expenses, and getting all the odds and ends of aid that the military and government make no provision for whatsoever.  Spread the joy this year….please.
