Ahem….Resolutely Resolving To NOT…
Well, my busy, busiest ritual week is over now. Samhain is over. Solemn rites and fun both have been honored, and now it is the official new year in this household. You all know what that means, right? The resolutions that melt away like morning dew…or chilled beer in July?
Some of mine will sadly be of that sort, most likely—the “Yes, I WILL exercise daily” kind. But some will not melt away.
I will NOT vote for an bitter old man and a running mate who is stupider than dogcrap.
I will not give up the joy I take in friendship in the face of dark times.
I will not stop believing that we are linked to the world we live in and need to participate in acts of preservation and conservation.
I will not bow my will to fear-induced stupidity in my nation.
I will not concede that because no political offering is perfect, it is permissible to make no choice, sit home and pout.
I will not read rants against Obama when he is clearly a better choice than the only other candidate. Sour grapes do not the wine of change make!
I will not shoot my mouth off about things that cause me anger and grief without working for change and putting my money where my mouth is!
I will not be a willing sheep to slaughter…mental or emotional.
I will NOT admit that patriotism is rank, feral nationalism.
I will not give up on love and marriage.
I will not forget those who have died for the errors of our leaders.
I will not forgive men who sent others to their deaths for financial gain.
I will not accept that the decline is all we can expect.
I will not believe mankind is meant to crawl, when we obviously are capable of flight!
