Clean Out of Profound
It is Veterans’ Day. I know, I should have something profound to say, right? Sorry, clean out. Emptied. Like “dead soldiers”…empty booze bottles, I have nothing left. Yes, we are an entire household of vets. And we feel empty because of that…we are alive, and so many others are dead.
Watching the Memorial at Ft. Hood yesterday totaled me. Knowing there was one going on right down the road at Ft. Lewis helped suck me dry. No, I don’t attend those. I don’t feel I have the right, I am not military any longer and my husband is safely civilian and retired from the Army. I have no coins to leave beside those too many pairs of boots. And my heart has already been offered up.
