The List – First Quarter – March 2009
More beads to the Stone, and too soon, I fear….the lists in Afghanistan are getting longer. I apologize that I have not been able to find the full information on many of these casualties, some I have naught by names and country.
The following U.S. Army personnel were killed in Iraq when their unit was attacked using small arms fire:
Cpl. Michael L. Mayne, 21, of Burlington Flats, N.Y.,
Spc. Micheal B. Alleman, 31, of Logan, Utah, and
Pfc. Zachary R. Nordmeyer, 21, of Indianapolis, Ind.
1st Lt. William E. Emmert, 36, of Lincoln, Tenn., died in Iraq, of wounds suffered when he was shot while participating in a local Iraqi Police function.
The following U. S. Army personnel died in Afghanistan when an IED detonated near their vehicle:
Capt. Brian M. Bunting, 29, of Potomac, Md.
Sgt. Schuyler B. Patch, 25, of Owasso Okla.
Sgt. Scott B. Stream, 39, of Mattoon, Ill.
Sgt. Daniel J. Thompson, 24, of Madison, Wis.
U.S. Army Spc. Brian M. Connelly, 26, of Union Beach, N.J., in Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle was struck by an explosive device.
U.S. Army Spc. Simone A. Robinson, 21, of Dixmoor, Ill., died March 1 at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near her security post on Jan. 17 in Kabul, Afghanistan.
US Marine Cpl Donte J. Whitworth, 21, from Indiana, died in Iraq in a vehicular accident.
The following troops from the United Kingdom died in Afghanistan in small arms and IED attacks:
Marine Michael Laski, 21
Cpl Tom Gaden, 24
LCpl Jamie Gunn, 21
Romanian Claudiu Chira , 30, died in Afghanistan in an IED attack.
Canadian troops were killed in an explosion in Afghanistan yesterday…I have no information save their names & ranks:

Spring is coming. Gardens and Labyrinths will be demanding time. Also, projects of sewing and photography.
And winter launched the last guided germ missile, I have a cold and feel crummy.
Therefore, relative silence here will ensue for a while. But hey, jump into the blogroll because ALL those folks have LOTS to say! And better than I can say it most of the time. Beads will be added to the monument as the count demands and I will post the moon phases lists as usual, and perhaps the occasional photo, but substantive wordy things are falling by my personal wayside for a while.
